The CellTrans™ ABT system has been independently evaluated in accordance with the ISO10993 standard for haemo-compatibility of medical devices.
De-fibrinated blood was incubated in the device and collected afterwards. The results were compared to simulated knee blood and blood obtained from the blood bank.
The results indicate that the incubation of blood in the CellTrans™ device had no major effects on the measured blood parameters:
- No loss of cells (RBCs, WBCs and Platelets) or haemolysis occurred Figure 1
- No effect on the Haematocrit or level of Haemoglobin Figure 2
- No activation of the clotting cascade and no complement activation was found.
- The level of Plasma Free Haemoglobin was approx 1/4 of that found in banked blood Figure 3
The Pall LipiGuard® Filter has been designed for use with post-operative salvaged blood. It:
- Decreases fat globules present in salvaged blood
- Reduces the burden of leucocytes in salvaged blood
- Lowers concentrations of the anaphylatoxin, C3a and its immunosuppressive metabolite (C3a des Arg77).
- Has a positive effect on the quality of blood due to the inclusion of a 40µm screen. Figure 4

All CellTrans™ components come complete in a double wrapped pack, making ordering simple and straightforward. Simply specify the required trocar size.
The inclusion of 2 trocars and drains means quicker and easier insertion of drains into the wound site. It also eliminates the potential hazards associated with handling sharp instruments.
With the inclusion of 2 transfusion bags it is possible to collect up to 1200ml of transfusable blood or for up to 12 hours*.
The Pall LipiGuard® filter gives the added reassurance that the blood that is re-infused to the patient has significant reductions in fat globules, leucocytes, anaphylatoxin, C3a and its immunosuppressive metabolite (C3a des Arg77).
